Personal Writing: The Day Of Surprise
... thought
I previously had. It might seem funny to some that I held that one day with
such great esteem, but to me it was unlike any other holiday. On Valentines Day
I felt loved by everyone. On that day, I would obtain the card that I had
picked out from my father. Classmates would give everyone Valentine cards. Some
extremely generous kids would even attach candy to the cards. It didn't matter
if you hated each other, on Valentines Day everyone put aside their differences
and even presented cards to the children nobody liked. That one day of love
seemed to unify the worst of foes through love and forgiveness. ...

Clan-X
... pushed people around for kicks. Usually
people that were half our size and walked around by themselves. We liked to
blow up people's letter boxes the most, usually just at random. Whenever
any new kids came to our school, we used to tease and make fun of them, so
they felt unwelcome and had no friends. Usually they left the school, we
loved it when they did that. Anyway, back to the story... On Friday
afternoon, just after school, we were all walking home talking about how
much of a loser this new guy was. By the time we got to the end of the
street, we had all agreed that we should do something totally outrageous t ...

Conformity
... people's opinions has given me the impression that the human
spirit has been confined to the impersonation of other people's wisdom and
virtue. I believe in the saying that imitation is the sheerest form of
flattery, but I also believe that it henders the evolution of a person's
psyche. To the best of my knowledge, this is what my intuition on the
conformity of mankind is based upon.
The other source that aided in the instillment of individualism in me,
is the various authors, poets, songwriters, and other dignitarys who I
valued as authority. Any sort of publication that celebrates the
individual captures ...

Bleeding Ireland And Black America
... in N. Ireland, “If you haven't been there yet, don't go there.”
I can remember the lyrics of a Naughty by Nature song blaring over my
car radio, “If you have never been to the ghetto, don't ever come to the ghetto,”
as I put in a tape. My thought stream continues as it takes me to another place
where guerrilla warfare and terrorism are a part of daily life.
The gunshots and unruly pitbull barking registers over the calm of the
wet playground. Trash strings the streets and every dwelling has an eight foot,
black, metal fence circuitously about it. Two white faces gape over the hood of
a parked C ...

... bike trails , Mom"
I said while grabbing a box of little debbie snacks.
"O.K., be home for supper" she said. This was in code it meant be home
at five. Well who cares on to the second stop, Dons Deli.
I went in and grabbed the usual. A pink lemonade Snapple and one of
those huge pixie sticks. I got to the counter. "The usual" the cashier said
"Yup" I said realizing that this recognition was a product of the last
few weeks.
"That will be two dollars" she said. But that was needless because I had
already left the money and was half way out the door. I mounted my bike and rode
the steed while sucking down as ...

Creative Story: State Highway
... could not be
successful in an environment with so many distractions. As he sat in the back
of the minivan fears over the future began to surface in his head. "Will I make
friends?" "Will I be comfortable so many miles away from home?" As these
thoughts raced through his mind he felt alone and a cold shiver was sent through
his body. He was no afraid and cold in the hot summer air. He knew consciously
and logically that he was not alone. For his mother and grandmother sat next to
him in the minivan and would do whatever they could to help him. But yet he
realized something had changed. They were there but would som ...

Personal Writing: Taking The Merkler Interest And Personality Type Self Assessment
... "by the book." I
am more motivated to do things my own way. I greatly value my being
independent. The Merkler stated that my "artistic" values are expressed
through music, writing, and/or design. This statement rings very true in
my case. I have played the piano and saxophone, sang at events, and am
learning how to play the guitar. I was also a journalism major at one
point, winning awards in writing competitions, and still desiring to write
a book someday. I am also wanting to make a career out of computer and
software design. Although I could be very creative in writing essays, the
Merkler stated that ...

Creative Writing: Terror On Halloween
... the smaller of the two figures.
Both the figures were dressed with a bed sheet that had obviously been
painted black and thrown over their heads with just two tiny holes where
the eyes would be. The other figure then said "whats it gunna be lady,
trick or treat?" Jess opened the door fully now and beckoned them to come
inside. "Just wait here", she said as she ran up the stairs and into the
bathroom where Sal was still combing her hair.
"Sal what should I give those two boys", asked Jess. "I dunno give
them one of those chocolate things near the fridge", Sal replied. Jess
