“Fanthorpe’s Poetry Stimulates The Reader To See People And Things In A New Light”

Patients is a very disturbing poem in that it challenges the way we usually see the hospital staff. We would prefer to view the hospital staff as professional, reliable, stable and infallible people. Here they are shown as lazy ( the nurses ) lecherous (the psychiatrist ) neurotic ( the director.... Part 2 of Paper .... health, our recovery or our lives even, as better and stronger than that. The title “Patients” has two sets of values. It is referring to the general patients of the hospital and also it is saying that everyone in the hospital is in fact a patient, including the staff.
The poem BC:AD is like its title, a short, snappy poem. It presents an unconventional way of looking at the birth of Christ. It challenges us to see this supposedly momentous occasion, the birth of Christ and a new religion, .... |
