Oedipus Rex: Classic Example Of Irony
Part 1 of Paper .... to be a tragedy. The main character (as defined) is supposed to come to some revealation about himself and his faults . His fault that would cost him everything .All the things that make a tragedy are of course present in the play but it has a twist that is evident in the plot .
At first glance Oedipus is a noble Kin.... Part 2 of Paper ....t wasnt even his main fault ,he was much slower to catch on .But finally he did . But before he did he blinded himself in grief because of Jocasta killing herself .Now all this may not seem ironic but let me explain....
Though Oedipus could physically see he couldnt "see" the truth and when he was blind he "saw" the truth that he had fullfilled the prophecy . The irony behind his proclamation in the begining of the play is that as he said the words to whom he thought could be the killer he actua.... |
