Dramatic Irony In Romeo And Juliet
Part 1 of Paper ....ories. Dramatic irony, a literary device in which the audience knows something that a character or group of characters don’t, is used in this tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. Sometimes, we do not understand the irony, but there are at least five examples of this literary device, and they all have to do with death.
Dramatic.... Part 2 of Paper ....Romeo wherefore art thou Romeo?/ Deny thy father and refuse thy name!/ Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,/ And I’ll no longer be a Capulet.” Basically, what Juliet says that she wants to marry Romeo and will defy her father to do it. This is dramatic irony because she does not know that he is there, but the audience does. Her saying this makes him want to marry her too, and them getting married later leads up to their death.
