Cinncinnati: Loveland: Paxton Woods
Part 1 of Paper ....st Territory. In the 1700s, this area was the wilds, the untamed and unknown frontier. The British policy up through the Revolutionary War, while we were nothing more than “the colonies” to the queen, was to leave the area to the Indians, who were already angry about being pushed from their eastern territories.
Nat.... Part 2 of Paper ....e transportation and livelihood of the day, settlers started arriving by 1788. Most of the city’s early settlers arrived by putting several weeks worth of food and their life’s possessions on flatboats, which were really nothing more than a small log cabin sitting on a modified Huck Finn-style raft, and drifting down the river. The current was their source of power, and travel was slower than an L.A. freeway during rush hour.
