Personal Writing: Response To My Visit To The Boott Cotton Mill
Part 1 of Paper ....at a mill looks like, especially an old
mill. I expected a large brick building with smoke stacks outside, inside I
expected fully functional product producing facility.
When I got there I was quite surprised. I walked to the mill from
the Visitor Center, and as I walked through downtown Lowell there were a
lot of peo.... Part 2 of Paper ....g in the mills.
The quotations from former mill workers also exhibited their
unhappiness. Grace May Burk, a former mill worker said, “Work started at
6:30 a.m. and ended at 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays work ended at noon. We got
Saturday afternoons off, big deal. No matter how much money I was being
paid, I would not work those hours every day. The people of the nineteenth
century worked those hours and for little pay.
