The Great Gatsby: The American Dream
Part 1 of Paper ....o the so called "American Dream", which is something Jay Gatsby sorely desires in this novel. Time is the most important motif in The Great Gatsby by far. There are over 450 time words, and the word itself appears 87 times. Gatsby always seems to want to go back into time to recapture Daisy's heart and get back to.... Part 2 of Paper ....in love with Daisy. Finally, he is betrayed by it with the help of Daisy's husband, Tom Buchanan, and the death of Myrtle Wilson. Gatsby is called great, which you can call him great by virtue of his ability to commit himself to his aspirations, but at the same time Gatsby himself is a liar, adulterer, a criminal, and someone the narrator, Nick Carraway, has only scorn for.
