....ara. When first looked at the Heian period may look more elaborate and culturally advanced, and in some ways it was. I believe however, the Nara period was much more exciting and fulfilling than the somewhat hollow Heian period. The Nara period was marked by new philosophies of religion, government, and culture.

....e seemed to modify Chinese concepts and make them unique to Japan. They did not only do this with government, but with all things taken from China. Japan was undergoing a great period of development. Aristocrats at this time were shaping an entire nation. It would have been extremely interesting and fulfilling to be one.
