Beowulf And His Virtues

After Beowulf’s promise to slay mother Grendel, Hrothgard “gave thanks to God/ for the heartening words the hero had spoken.” (910) Beowulf had yet to kill mother Grendel, but Hrothgar knew Beowulf would fulfill his promise.
