For 381 days blacks walked or arrange their own rides throughout the city rather than taking the bus. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. , appointed spokesperson for the boycott talked about the importance of nonviolence by all participants. Thousands of courageous people joined togethe to demand equal rights for all.
