Sports In Today's Society
... on each team should have a certain respect for the other team.
Yet, many people still question the ethics of professional sports. Do these men
and women who get paid for their talent still have respect for themselves, the
fans, and the opposing team?
Sports such as Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey are prime
examples of how some athletes display their sportsmanship. These signs of bad
sportsmanship are sometimes fighting or acting irrational just because the team
lost the game, missed a catch or block, dropped the ball, or simply not doing
better than they thought. Many times you can hear or read such e ...

The Population Problem

strengthening to Malthus' argument is the theory that the world population will
increase to over 10 billion by 2050, two times what it was in 1990 (Bongaarts

population between 1950 and 1990, an average of 70,000 a year. Between 1990
and 2030, it is estimated that another 3.6 billion will be added, an average of

growth was 0.34%; it increased to 0.54% in the 19th century and in the first

... to feed. With millions of people going to bed at night, unprotected, the World is seeing an enormous child-birth rate. There are also people who choose to have more and more children, seeking them out of love, with good intentions, but not realizing the problems they're causing.
World energy needs are projected to double in the next several decades, but no credible geologist foresees a doubling of world oil production, which is projected to peak with in the next few decades.
While protein demands are projected to also double in the century ahead, no respected marine biologist expects the oceanic fish catch, ...

The Homeless: What Has Been Done To Decrease The Problem?
... to
the affairs of the people, it is the government who should intervene. When
I look at what the government has done with regard to the homeless problem,
I have to doubt that everything is being done to eradicate it. The United
Nations implemented a universal declaration of human rights. Article 25
Section 1 of this declaration states:
Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health
and well being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing,
housing, and medical care and necessary social services, and to the right
to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disabi ...

Youth's Fight To Gain Freedom From The Other Generation
... values and messages in mind. They all, more or less, aim to show the many freedoms which their generation was fighting for. These fights were used to help push for freedoms from areas such as society's rules and values, competition, living for others first, and the older generation's beliefs as a whole including the freedom to use drugs. The younger generation just wanted a chance to express their own views rather than having to constantly succumb to the values and rules left behind by the older generation.
The two different approaches used by authors to express these views are often representative of the two m ...

Immigration: Problem With Too Many Immigrants In The U.S
... and frequent checks are necessary to keep corporations from
hiring illegal aliens. We need to do something about this problem before its to
late.
The number of legal immigrants should definitely be lowered to a much
more reasonable number. Right now, an average of over 600,000 legal immigrants
are granted access to the country. I believe this number should be cut in half.
We need to focus on problems facing American citizens, such as poverty, AIDS,
cancer, and unemployment. We don't need 300,00 more people to deal with, we have
enough problems with the currents population.
I don't think certain ethnic ...

What Is Love?
... a falsehood; a love affair. Everyone has a different definition of love. Some see love as being able to endure me, some see love as being able to please me, and others see love as being able to obey me. All of these are true to some and violently wrong to others, but that is the beauty of love, it is available to all. Romance is therefore a relative thing. The fact is that romantic love, is a different thing to different people. To me, romance is a fleeting thing. It is a step towards a better thing, towards love that isn't physical. Romance epitomizes the best and worst of love. It is a thing that I at once ...

Human Desire To "fit In"
... this world seem to need companionship and are often too
weak to stand alone. As a result, they stand together in what ever group
they are best suited to.
It is a point of interest to many of the people who have stopped to think
about this fact. The idea that people live according to how others will
perceive then has been established as the rule, not the exception. The
real question now lies in the reasons for this way of life. It was
hypothesized by C.S. Lewis that this desire to belong and to fit in is a
natural human characteristic. He believed that people have an instinctive
drive to belong, in the same sort of ...
