Capital Punishment
... penalty is
so controversial is because many feel its cruel ways of punishment are
unnecessary, even if the crime is murder, whether it be premeditated or
unintentional. They believe there are other ways of condemnation besides
execution. In the case of an unintentional death feelings are that the
perpetrators should have the right to live, but have to face each day with
the fact that they killed someone weighing on their conscience. On the
other hand, such as with a voluntary murder, the ideas are somewhat similar.
They believe the murderer doesn’t deserve the death penalty. Chances are

No Speed Limit In Virginia
... that speed. Why build cars that fast if you aren't allowed to use them to their full potential. It would be like having a computer able to run at 200MHz, but only allowed to run at 100MHz; what is the point? Currently, there is no federal speed limit however, there is a national speed limit set on commercial vehicles. So, any state is allowed to set the speed limit to what they want and "any state" means Virginia State also.
The Virginia State speed limit should be lifted from all interstate and state highways. The fact is the speed limit, which is set at 55 miles per hour around the area, causes many problems ...

Is Drug Testing The Answer?
... alternate reality being a
place or frame of mind that is somehow separated from actual reality. Actual
reality contains all the true elements of life. These elements include work,
school, having children, and paying bills. Life is full of adversities that
humans must learn to cope with. Coping comes in many forms. It can be a walk
in the park, some quiet time with a loved one, or even reading a good book.
Conversely, coping can come in the form of substance abuse. Substance abuse can
take humans to that alternate reality they seek. Different drugs have different
effects on the mind and body. The reason for t ...

We have law aginst drug is so that the people who use dangerous

Don't Talk To Cops
... the FBI, or the
representative of any other investigative agency. Even the simplest questions
may be loaded and the seemingly harmless bits of information which you volunteer
may later become vital links in a chain of circumstantial evidence against you
or a friend.
DO NOT INVITE THE INVESTIGATOR INTO YOUR HOME!
Such an invitation not only gives him the opportunity to look around for
clues to your lifestyle, friends, reading material, etc., but also tends to
prolong the conversation. The longer the conversation, the more chance there is
for a skill investigator to find out what he wants to know ...

Howard Roark's Testimony At The Cortlandt Trial
... do it. When Keating gave into letting the building be altered, this greatly conflicted with what Roark had envisioned. He destroyed the building out of hatred for the alterations. It was almost as if he had been robbed, or if his main ideal was faced in front of a “firing range”. He does not see it as his own failure at all. He does realize the mistake in allowing Keating to propose the project, but he was ignorant to the fact that proposing is just as important as the unique design of the building. In other words, he did not realize that allowing Keating to propose the project to be a threat to his ind ...

Medicalizing Drugs
... have been taught that they do not have to go out and get a job. They just have to have children to support and we will give them the money, housing, and the food they need and not require them to have to do anything for it in return. Alan Dershowitzs proposal will also create the same situation, except we will now be supporting individuals drug habits. Alan Dershowitz states "But since we can neither eliminate heroin nor the demand for it, there is a powerful case for medicalizing as much of the problem as feasible." This statement is ludicrous, it would not change society in the slightest other than we would now ...

Capital Punishment: The Just Punishment For Serious Crimes
... by the "a life for a life" principle.
Also, it is an effective crime deterent which , by simply incapacitation of
the criminal, the chances of committing crimes of that criminal is
eliminated. Potential serial killers could not have been serial killers if
they were executed after the first murder. Furthermore, it has a
threatening effect to the public, making use of human's basic fear of
death, implying that the society would deal with capital offences with a
just hand , by taking away the lives of the criminals who knowingly
forfeits others' right to life.
Capital punishment is a necessary element in a socie ...

Prostitution Should Be Legalized
... yet taxpayers must continue to support law enforcement’s efforts to curtail prostitution. Proponents of keeping prostitution illegal contend that prostitution is immoral, degrading, and contributes to the spread of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. Nevertheless, legalizing and regulating prostitution will provide greater benefits for society. Supporters of banning prostitution insist first and foremost that selling a person’s body is immoral. Yet in one way or another, all people who work "sell" one or more parts of their body in order to complete their jobs. Athletes, bus drivers, and const ...

The Death Penalty
... 2.2 million dollars for each person executed.
Fact # 3: A black man who is charged in the killing of a white man is forty times as likely to receive rather than the white killing the black.
These facts thoroughly state my notion on why should be abolished in the U.S.
Another reason for which should not be allowed is because racial issues are a concern involving the decision that is made regarding the execution. The Rev. Norris Williams of Cain Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church said, "Applying without prejudice is an impossible feat in the judicial system. All of us carry a certain amount of prejudice, ...
