Letter From Birmingham Jail
... Letter. King wrote the letter on behalf of his defense clearly explaining his motives on why he was in Birmingham demonstrating. His reasons and explanations were so logical and precise that people found it very difficult to dispute them.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was known as one of the leaders of the American civil right movement and a prominent advocate of nonviolent resistance to racial oppression. As a Baptist minister King knew better then to use violence to fight against the oppression. But this did not mean he would stop from voicing his opinion about the problems that were present. ... kill Duncan. In Act I, Scene 7, she tells him, “What beast was’t then That made you break this enterprise to me? When you durst do it, then you were a man; Be so much more the man.” Later on in the play, Lady Macbeth begins to show some small signs of weakness. The first sign of weakness comes in Act II, Scene 2 when she says that she could not kill Duncan because he resembled her father. She explains, “Had he not resembled My father as he slept, I had done’t.” The other example of some weakness in Lady Macbeth’s character is in Act III, Scene 2 when she tries to comfort Macbeth by telling him no ...

Thats Not Art
... a great deal of creativity, something that shows the artist has a tuned talent. In other words, art is to me something I could not simply throw together myself in five minutes flat, aside from the time it takes for the glue on a row of tacks to dry. Aesthetics obviously did not play a role in this sculpture, nor did the expression of any meaningful ideas or feelings. I do realize that not knowing the history of this piece or of its creator changes what I see when looking at this sculpture. When I view the iron, I see it as a meaningless object that does not appear to have any creativity or significance attached to ...

Destructive Generation: Second Thoughts & The 60s: Years Of Hope - Comparison
... of drugs, and
the overall havoc created throughout the country. Therefore, the authors
give two very different descriptions of the era of which they were all a
part.
Even in the beginnings of the works, the differences are very
noticeable. Collier and Horowitz begin by trying to describe a "summary
moment" (Collier and Horowitz 11) of the decade. This "moment" involves a
revolutionary group known as the Black Panther Party. The authors seem to
criticize this group by commenting on their appearances and their actions
in certain events. For example, at a cocktail party, one Panther spit in
the face of an army dr ...

... your soul, that it may not be lost.”’(26). The Bishop’s Influence on Jean will stay with him for the rest of his life.
Cosette’s influence on Jean Valjean is welcome and realized most by Jean. Cosette influenced Jean with her need for love and a father figure. When Jean first met Cosette, he realized her reaching out for someone to fill in these missing spots in her life. As Jean took care of Cosette he gave her a loving, elder, trustworthy, male role she has been waiting for for support and stability. The time they spent together warmed both of their hearts with the feeling they longed for. “Jean Va ...

In the movie the “Were The Spirit Lives”, there was two young

For Another Man's Freedom
... by the people of United States of America as the "rebirth" of
America. The only problem with these thoughts is that these were not the
thoughts that were in the heads of the soldiers at the time. During the
fighting these soldiers not only did not see this as the rebirth of a nation,
but had "forgotten the cause" altogether. I do not believe that these men were
necessarily fighting specifically for the rights of the slaves, but rather for
the rights of all men including themselves. These men were thought to be
"privileged", and at the time I am sure they believed that they were taking part
in an inconceivable ...
